Infrastructure Architect

About the role

As an Infrastructure Architect, you play a pivotal role in shaping and safeguarding the technology landscape of a large-scale enterprise environment. You translate business and technical requirements into sustainable architecture, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, highly available, and aligned with the organization’s Enterprise Architecture.

You combine strategic thinking with deep technical expertise, guiding technology decisions across infrastructure, identity, cloud, security, networking, and collaboration platforms. Working closely with project teams, engineers, architects, and business stakeholders, you ensure every solution contributes to a future-proof IT landscape.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Technology Design

• Design, document, and maintain architecture standards and guidelines within the Enterprise Architecture framework.
• Define technology choices based on business requirements, best practices, and strategic roadmaps.
• Validate technical solution designs and ensure architectural compliance.
• Incorporate performance, high availability, disaster recovery, and security into every architectural design.
• Provide technical expertise during procurement processes, including technical specifications and vendor evaluations.
• Contribute to technology roadmaps, balancing innovation, quality, maintainability, and cost-efficiency.
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve the stability, security, and performance of the IT landscape.

Stakeholder Management

• Bridge the gap between business, project teams, engineers, and management.
• Provide architectural input for project scope, planning, budgets, and risk assessments.
• Participate in architecture boards, governance meetings, and technical review sessions.
• Promote Enterprise Architecture standards and create alignment across stakeholders.

Innovation & Knowledge Sharing

• Evaluate emerging technologies and develop proof-of-concepts where appropriate.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and translate them into practical improvements.
• Contribute to knowledge management and actively share expertise across teams.
• Represent the organization in architecture and technology communities.

Your Profile

Experience

• Master’s degree or equivalent through experience.
• Minimum 10 years of experience as a Technical Architect or in a similar infrastructure architecture role.
• Experience within large enterprise environments (100,000+ endpoints).
• Strong experience working in complex project organizations.
• Familiarity with PM² or comparable project methodologies.

You have broad infrastructure knowledge combined with deep expertise in several of the following domains:

• Enterprise Infrastructure Architecture
• Microsoft Active Directory, ADFS & Entra ID
• Microsoft Azure
• Microsoft Exchange
• Identity & Access Management (TrustBuilder, SAP IDM)
• PKI & Certificate Services
• Networking & TCP/IP
• Infrastructure Automation
• Databases
• Enterprise Security
• SMTP
• PowerShell & VBScript

Certifications

One or more Microsoft certifications such as:

• MCSA
• MCSE
• MCSD

Soft Skills

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Able to communicate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and senior management.
• Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities.
• Autonomous, pragmatic, and capable of setting the right priorities.
• Experience with change management and driving architectural governance.

Languages

• Fluent in Dutch and/or French (C2).
• Fluent in English (C1).

Location

• Willing to work at least two days per week on-site in Brussels.
