Senior AWS Engineer

About the Role

You are a proactive self-starter who delivers results with minimal supervision. As our Senior Cloud Engineer, you will own the end-to-end infrastructure lifecycle for the new lockers platform. You will design robust AWS architectures using Terraform, automate operational tasks, and ensure our deployment workflows seamlessly support our physical, on-site locker installations.

You transition effortlessly between high-level architecture and hands-on troubleshooting. Whether it’s optimizing networking and security or providing technical guidance to software teams, you are the glue that keeps the platform stable, secure, and scalable.

Key Responsibilities

• Platform Ownership: Own the end-to-end infrastructure lifecycle for the new lockers platform, working independently to build it from the ground up.
• AWS Architecture: Design, automate, and scale our core AWS cloud environment using Terraform as our standard for Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Hybrid Deployment: Bridge central AWS cloud services with local, physical locker systems deployed on-site (Debian OS).
• Optimization & Automation: Optimize deployment workflows and automate operational tasks to ensure maximum reliability and uptime.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with software teams, providing technical guidance and acting as a sounding board for cloud best practices.
• Documentation: Maintain crystal-clear documentation for system architecture, automation workflows, and communication protocols.

Your Profile

• Experienced Expert: You have 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, or DevOps.
• Ownership: You have a proven track record of working independently and taking full responsibility for complex projects.
• AWS Master: Deep expertise in AWS services, with a strong focus on networking, security, and scalability.
• IaC Specialist: Highly proficient in building robust, reproducible infrastructure using Terraform.
• Tooling & Tech: Strong Bash scripting skills and version control proficiency using Git. Familiarity with Kafka or similar event streaming platforms is a plus (conceptual knowledge is fine).
• Bonus Points: Experience managing or deploying software to Debian OS on edge hardware / IoT, and/or AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect Professional or DevOps Engineer Professional).
• Communicator: Excellent analytical skills to debug hybrid cloud-to-edge issues, paired with the ability to explain technical infrastructure concepts to cross-functional teams. Dutch and/or French is mandatory for this position.
