Senior Cloud Architect / Lead Consultant

About the Role

As a Senior Cloud Architect at TalentRoots, you act as a strategic advisor and technical leader for our clients. You define cloud strategies, design scalable architectures, and guide organizations through their cloud transformation while staying close enough to the technology to make pragmatic decisions.

You combine advisory (approximately 50%) with high-level technical involvement and leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Cloud Strategy & Roadmapping: Act as a strategic advisor to C-level stakeholders, defining multi-year cloud adoption paths and hybrid-cloud strategies.
• Enterprise Landing Zone Design: Define the high-level architecture for Landing Zones, including management group hierarchies, identity (IAM) strategy, and global networking topologies.
• Cloud Governance & Policy: Establish the “Rules of the Cloud” by designing governance frameworks, security guardrails, and compliance standards (e.g., CIS, ISO27001).
• Well-Architected Reviews: Lead architectural audits of existing client environments to identify risks in security, reliability, and cost-efficiency, providing actionable improvement roadmaps.
• FinOps Advisory: Design cost-allocation models and tagging strategies to ensure clients have full visibility and control over their cloud spend.
• Technical Leadership: Bridge the gap between business requirements and technical execution, guiding engineering teams to ensure designs are implemented as intended.
• Stakeholder Management: Present complex architectural decisions to both technical leads and executive boards, ensuring buy-in and alignment.

Your Profile

• 8-15 years in IT, with at least 4 years in a leading Cloud Architecture role.
• Mastery of Frameworks: Deep knowledge of Cloud Adoption Frameworks (CAF) and Well-Architected Frameworks (WAF).
• Landing Zone Expert: Proven track record in designing secure, multi-subscription/account enterprise environments.
• Strategic Communicator: You can explain the “Why” behind an architectural choice to a CEO and the “How” to a Lead Engineer.
• Governance & FinOps Mindset: You design for compliance and cost-efficiency by default.
• Pragmatic Leader: You aren’t an ‘Ivory Tower’ architect; you understand the reality of technical debt and migration challenges.
• Fluent in Dutch and English, French is a plus, with the communication skills to explain technical whys to both developers and project managers.
• You hold at least one Professional or Specialty level certification (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert or AWS SAP).
