About the Role
As a Senior Cloud Engineer at TalentRoots, you are the go-to expert for cloud implementations, migrations, and hybrid infrastructures at client sites. Your main focus is to deliver end-to-end cloud solutions, ensuring scalability, security, and operational stability.
This is a consultancy-focused role where you work on diverse client projects, enabling them to transition smoothly to modern cloud environments. This role is primarily hands-on (approximately 70-80%), combined with technical ownership and direct client interaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Implementation Design: Translate high-level blueprints into low-level technical designs (LLD) that are optimized for performance and maintainability.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Development: Build and maintain the ‘engine’ of the cloud. Develop modular, version-controlled Terraform, Bicep, or OpenTofu code to automate all deployments.
- Landing Zone Implementation: Hands-on deployment of Landing Zones, ensuring that networking (Hub-and-Spoke), firewalls, and shared services are deployed 100% via code.
- Platform & Orchestration: Build and manage production-grade Kubernetes (AKS/EKS/GKE) environments, focusing on ingress, scaling, and cluster security.
- Site Reliability Engineering (SRE): Implement advanced observability (Prometheus/Grafana/OpenTelemetry) and define SLIs/SLOs to ensure the platform is self-healing and highly available.
- Automated Lifecycle Management: Eliminate manual ‘toil’ by building CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps) for automated patching, backups, and resource vending.
- L3 Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis: Act as the final technical escalation point for complex production incidents, ensuring long-term fixes through code instead of manual patches.
Your Profile
- 6-10+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering, DevOps, or System Architecture, with a proven track record in consultancy or high-scale environments.
- Engineering Excellence: You have deep, hands-on expertise in at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and understand its inner workings beyond the GUI.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Native: You treat infrastructure as software. Mastery of Terraform, OpenTofu, or Bicep is a must, including state management, modularity, and CI/CD integration.
- Container & Orchestration Expert: Strong experience designing, deploying, and troubleshooting production-grade Kubernetes (K8s) clusters and microservices architectures.
- SRE & Observability Mindset: You don’t just build; you ensure reliability. You are proficient in setting up SLIs/SLOs and advanced monitoring (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
- Automation Specialist: You have a natural “allergy” to manual work and are fluent in Python, Go, or PowerShell to build custom tooling and eliminate toil.
- Security & Compliance Champion: You implement Security-by-Design, translating high-level security policies into technical guardrails and Policy-as-Code.
- Consultant DNA: You are a pragmatic problem-solver who can navigate client stakeholders, document complex systems clearly, and mentor internal or client teams.
- Fluent in Dutch and English, French is a plus, with the communication skills to explain technical whys to both developers and project managers.
