About the Role

As a Senior Network & Connectivity Engineer at TalentRoots, you are the backbone of modern hybrid infrastructures. You ensure that data flows securely, efficiently, and reliably, from legacy on-prem systems to cloud platforms, edge devices, and IoT sensors.

You bridge the gap between infrastructure, cloud, and security, designing networks that are not only robust but also automated and future-ready. This is a consultancy-focused role, working across diverse clients and industries, solving complex connectivity challenges at scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Hybrid & Cloud Networking: Design, implement and manage ExpressRoute, Direct Connect, VPN tunnels, and VPC/VNet connectivity between on-prem and cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Edge & IoT Connectivity: Implement network solutions for remote sites, IoT gateways, and edge devices, including 4G/5G, LoRaWAN, and other IoT protocols.
• Network Security (SASE & ZTNA): Deploy Next-Gen Firewalls, Zero Trust Network Access, and software-defined security layers.
• SD-WAN & Routing Optimization: Build and optimize software-defined wide area networks to ensure high-performance global traffic.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for Networking: Automate provisioning and configuration of network infrastructure using Terraform or Ansible.
• Monitoring & Observability: Implement network monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure reliable and performant connectivity.
• Collaboration & Consultancy: Work closely with cloud architects, DevOps/Platform Engineers, and client teams to align network strategy with business and technical goals.

Your Profile

• 5-10+ years of expertise in Network Engineering, with a proven track record in high-stakes consultancy or complex enterprise environments.
• Hybrid Networking Specialist: You possess deep, hands-on knowledge of enterprise solutions (Cisco, Fortinet, or Juniper) and seamlessly translate this to the cloud (VPCs/VNets, ExpressRoute, Private Links).
• The Connectivity Guru: You don’t just see cables; you see a software-defined ecosystem. You are an expert in SD-WAN, SASE, and Zero Trust (ZTNA) architectures.
• Network-as-Code Advocate: You have a natural drive to automate. Proficiency in Terraform, Ansible, or Python is essential to eliminate manual configuration and ensure consistency across sites.
• Edge & IoT Native: You are comfortable working at the edge of the network, understanding the unique connectivity and security requirements of IoT gateways and remote locations.
• Observability Mindset: You rely on data, not luck. Experience with network monitoring and observability tools ensures you identify bottlenecks before they impact the client’s business.
• The Analytical Pilot: You stay calm and methodical during connectivity crises. Your troubleshooting skills are legendary, and you solve the root cause, not just the symptom.
• Fluent in both Dutch and English. You can defend a network design to a Lead Engineer and explain the business value of a secure edge to a CTO.
